چکیده

Foretelling these attacks, the President’s Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection (PCCIP) announced in October of 1997 that the increasing dependence of U.S. critical infrastructures on information and communications has made them vulnerable to information warfare attacks. The commission found that while the resources needed to conduct a physical attack against these infrastructures have not dramatically changed, the resources necessary to launch a comparable-scale attack via information warfare are commonplace and consist of a personal computer and an Internet connection. Furthermore, the ubiquity of Internet access and the easy availability of hacker tools on underground Internet sites have significantly reduced both financial and intellectual barriers to launching effective attacks against critical systems. With roughly 95% of Defense Department communications relying on commercial infrastructures, the government finds itself as a major stakeholder in the security of commercial systems and is now proposing to spend $1.46 billion in fiscal year 2000 to directly address the threat of cyberterrorism. The federal sector is not alone, however, in its concerns over information warfare. Wholesale payment systems such as the Federal Reserve’s FedWire and In early 1998, several dozen computer systems in

A NOVEL QUINONE DIMETHIDE FORMED BY AERIAL OXIDATION OF 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8- OCTAHYDRO-9,lO-DIHYDROXY1,-5 ANTHRACENEDIONE

During the development of a new regiospecific synthetic methodology for 1,5 dihydroxy- 9,lO-anthraquinone, it was observed that (anthrufin) preparative TLC of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro-9,lO-dihyd roxy- 1,5-anthracenedione on silica gel produced a well-defined 1:l complex of the dione and an aerial oxidation product of it, the quinone dimethide 1,2,3,4,5,6,7- hexahydro-9,lO-dihydroxy-1 ,5-...

Variable-Order Ant System for VLSI multiobjective floorplanning

Floorplanning is crucial in VLSI chip design as it determines the time-to-market and the quality of the product. In this work, Variable-Order Ant System (VOAS) is developed and combined with a floorplan model namely Corner List (CL) to optimize the area and wirelength. CL is used to represent the floorplan layout. Although CL has proven to have the same search space and time complexity as Corne...

An Evaluation of Two Hands-On Lab Styles for Plant Biodiversity in Undergraduate Biology

We compared learning cycle and expository formats for teaching about plant biodiversity in an inquiry-oriented university biology lab class (n = 465). Both formats had preparatory lab activities, a hands-on lab, and a postlab with reflection and argumentation. Learning was assessed with a lab report, a practical quiz in lab, and a multiple-choice exam in the concurrent lecture. Attitudes toward...

Orbifold Zhu’s theory associated to intertwining operators

We study intertwining operators among the twisted modules for rational VOAs and show the modular invariance property of the space spanned by the trace functions concerning to some representations of rational orbifold VOAs. Our result generalizes the results obtained in [DLM2] and [M3].

Rationality of Virasoro Vertex Operator Algebras

Vertex operator algebras (VOA) were introduced by Borcherds ( [B] ) as an axiomatic description of the ‘holomorphic part’ of a conformal field theory ( [BPZ] ). An account of the theory of vertex operator algebras may be found in [FLM]. One of the most important examples of VOAs ( [FZ] ) is the Virasoro VOAs, i.e.VOAs corresponding to the representations of the Virasoro algebra L, denoted by Vc...
